Job summary

Volo Sports in Phoenix, AZ is seeking friendly Hosts & Referees for basketball leagues. This part-time role involves representing Volo at facilities and bars, ensuring a safe, fun, and fair environment for players, and serving as the main contact for league participants.

You must be available on weekends and evenings, know the rules of the sport, communicate clearly, and handle scores and check-ins in our system.

Qualifications

Willing to work weekends and/or nights, with Sunday and Wednesday evening availability.
Knowledge of sport rules; referee/umpire experience preferred.
Interest in sports and social activities.
Strong attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills.
Works well in a team atmosphere.
Ability to multi-task and make decisions under pressure.
Ability to lift and carry 30-50 pounds.
Positive, solution-oriented mindset with clear communication.
Proficient customer service skills.
Certified referees may qualify for a higher starting rate.

Responsibilities

Ensure a safe, fun, social and fair environment for all players.
Understand and kindly and fairly enforce each sport’s rules.
Communicate with the office regarding any equipment, rule issues, player issues, etc.
Update league scores in our user interface.
Check in players in our user interface.
Encourage and maintain a quality experience throughout the league.
Set up & take down field set up.
Meet players and make them feel welcome.
