Job Title: Assisted Living Cook
Position Summary:
The Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving meals to residents in an assisted living community. The Cook ensures meals are nutritious, well-balanced, visually appealing, and meet residents' dietary needs and preferences while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook meals according to menus, recipes, and dietary requirements.
Ensure all meals are served on time and at the proper temperature.
Modify meals to accommodate special dietary needs (e.g., diabetic, low-sodium, pureed diets).
Maintain food safety and sanitation standards according to health regulations.
Assist with meal planning and food ordering as needed.
Keep kitchen, equipment, and dining areas clean and organized.
Store food properly to prevent spoilage.
Monitor inventory and assist in minimizing food waste.
Communicate with the dining staff, caregivers, and management regarding residents' meal preferences and needs.
Participate in special events or themed meals.
Follow all policies regarding safety, infection control, and company protocols.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience cooking in a healthcare, assisted living, or similar environment preferred.
Knowledge of basic nutrition and special diets.
Ability to lift up to 25-50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in a fast-paced environment.
ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain upon hire) is a plus.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Compassion for elderly residents and a commitment to excellent service.
Schedule:
Part time weekends
