The Part-Time Water Safety Instructor earns a competitive salary of $14.34- $15.53/hour, based on qualifications. We also offer access to the city's recreation fitness center and employee assistance program.

A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A PART-TIME WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR

Job Summary

The purpose of this class within the organization is to teach and enable someone to swim, clean the pool facility, ensure the safety of rescue equipment and pool chemistry, and to provide first aid as needed. This class works under close supervision according to set procedures.

Essential Functions

• Instruct participants in swimming and provide safety precaution information.
• Teach all aspects of swimming including basic survival skills to coaching competitive swim teams.
• Check pool chemicals.
• Clean and maintain pool and facilities.
• Set up for swim meets and rentals.
• Focus on different skills and techniques.
• Supervise patrons' use of the pool and pool equipment, and respond to emergencies and general first aid needs to ensure patron safety.
• Perform related work as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

• Entry level education for this position does not require completion of high school.
• No prior experience is required.

Special Certifications And Licenses

• American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification
