Responsibilities

• Assist in development and implementation of Suzuki violin curriculum for 1st and 2nd grade.
• Recruit, instruct, and retain students on violin and viola across grades.
• Prepare students for yearly violin/viola recital and collaborations.
• Collaborate with ensemble directors to support performance groups.
• Engage with performing arts staff and faculty on curriculum.
• Organize studio lesson schedules and set lesson times with students.
• Coordinate with private lesson coordinator on curriculum and scheduling.
• Communicate regularly with families about scheduling issues.
• Ensure all private lesson program rules are followed.
• Identify new program needs and possibilities for expansion

We are seeking qualified, experienced candidates for the position ofPart-Time Violin/Viola Instructor for the 2026-2027 school year. We are looking for an individual that is available 2-3 days a week and available to give lessons both during and after school. The compensation is highly competitive and based on studio enrollment.

Duties:

• Assist in development and implementation of Suzuki violin curriculum for 1 st and 2 nd grade program.
• Recruit, instruct, and retain students on violin (1 st -12 th grades) and viola (3 rd -12 th grades) annually
• Prepare students for a yearly violin/viola recital and any other collaborations at GA
• Responsible for collaborating with ensemble directors to ensure success in performance groups
• Demonstrate commitment to departmental engagements including collaborative interaction with performing arts faculty and staff
• Organize studio lesson schedules, working with students to set a lesson time
• Collaborate with private lesson coordinator and other instructors on curriculum and scheduling
• Communicate regularly with families and respond to issues involving private lesson scheduling
• Ensure that all rules and policies of the private lesson program are followed judiciously
• Responsible for identifying new program needs and possibilities for expansion as they arise

Qualifications:

• Suzuki violin training through the SAA is required
• At least two years of teaching experience is required
• Undergraduate or graduate degree in violin or viola performance or music education is required, or equivalent teaching/performance experience
• Strong work ethic, attendance, and punctuality
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Individual must be organized, and able to maintain a communication around scheduling
