Job summary

Heartstrings Pet Hospice in Louisville is seeking an Associate Veterinarian to provide compassionate in-home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care. You will work independently in the field with strong leadership support and a collaborative team.

This privately owned practice emphasizes compassion, dignity, and respect, offering flexibility, a low-stress environment, and growth opportunities while avoiding non-compete agreements.

Qualifications

• DVM/VMD/BVMS from an accredited veterinary school.
• Active veterinary license in the state of practice.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license.
• Availability to work some weekends on a rotating schedule.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and up to 100 lbs with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care in a compassionate, Fear Free–aligned manner.
• Support families through the end-of-life process with empathy, patience, and professionalism.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.
• Collaborate with Heartstrings’ medical leadership and support teams.
• Participate in ongoing training, education, and clinical development.
