Job summary

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking Associate Veterinarians to provide compassionate in-home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care across San Francisco and surrounding areas. You will work independently in the field, supported by a collaborative medical leadership team and supportive operations.

We value a mission-driven practice with no non-compete, flexible scheduling including full-time and part-time roles, and a commitment to compassionate care for pets and their families.

Qualifications

• DVM, VMD, or BVMS from an accredited veterinary school.
• Active (or ability to obtain) veterinary license in the state of practice.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license.
• Availability to work some weekends as part of a rotating schedule.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and up to 100 lbs with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care compassionately.

Position Overview

As an Associate Veterinarian with Heartstrings Pet Hospice, you will provide compassionate, gentle in-home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care. You’ll work independently in the field while being fully supported by a collaborative medical leadership team, dedicated Veterinary Care Specialists (VCS), and strong operational infrastructure.

Veterinarian Core Responsibilities

• Provide in-home euthanasia and hospice care for geriatric and terminally ill pets
• Guide families in making end-of-life decisions for their pets
• Build relationships with local veterinary clinics, serving as an extension of their excellent care

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM, VMD, or BVMS) from an accredited veterinary school
