Job description

Have you ever thought about devoting your veterinarian skills to providing care to the most vulnerable cats and dogs in NYC? Come and join the Adoption Center team and utilize best practices and innovative programs to ensure all animals receive timely services and support, helping them move quickly and successfully into safe and loving homes.

What you’ll do:

The veterinarian will be a critical player on this high-performing staff and volunteer team that works collaboratively and effectively with internal and external stakeholders to further the ASPCA’s ultimate goal: that all animals live good lives.

* Schedule: 3 days/week (8-hour shifts, including one weekend day)

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Provide High Quality Patient and Population Care (60%)
  • Deliver compassionate, practical, and cost-efficient veterinary care to a variety of canines and felines following shelter medicine principles
  • Diagnose and treat patients efficiently, coordinating with ASPCA programs and colleagues
  • Maintain communication regarding animal health across departments
  • Ensure animals receive medical exams upon intake and ongoing care, including creating Certificates of Veterinary Inspections (CVI) for interstate transport
  • Lead daily medical rounds and manage quarantine and isolation spaces
  • Make informed decisions about euthanasia considering animals’ needs
  • Follow all safety protocols and SOPs, and participate in continuing education
  • Provide medical information to other departments, the public, and media
  • Deploy with ASPCA teams as needed and perform other duties as assigned

Compensation and Benefits:

Starting salary ranges from $88,800 to $93,600, depending on experience and qualifications, with a signing bonus. For details on benefits, visit our website.
