BooksTime is looking for an experienced accountant to join us as a Senior Accountant. You’ll oversee bookkeeping services for a set of clients. You will NOT be required to do :

  • Any tax work;
  • Basic bookkeeping (you supervise the bookkeepers).

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Accountant, you'll :

Set up services for new clients: You'll talk with them, understand their needs, and coordinate a team of international bookkeepers to get services up and running. Your role is to be a high-level accounting resource to the bookkeepers, help manage communication with the client (including managing their expectations), and generally build a trusted advisor relationship with the client.

Supervise ongoing services: After the set-up is done, you’ll supervise and support the bookkeepers as needed for the same clients.

As a growing, evolving company, there will also be opportunities to take on different or more specialized roles. For example, if you’re interested, there could be versions of this role that involve :

  • Only new service set-up or only ongoing supervision;
  • Industry-specific specialization;
  • Controller and / or CFO services;
  • Management;
  • So much more.
Qualifications

What we're looking for:

  • Experienced. Our ideal candidate has handled the accounting for multiple companies (in-house or at an accounting/bookkeeping firm). Titles such as Controller, Finance Manager, Full Charge Bookkeeper, Director of Accounting, VP of Finance, CFO, Senior Accountant, etc. are relevant. Management experience is valuable but not required. Hands-on experience with QuickBooks and the ability to manage multiple clients simultaneously.
  • Knowledgeable. Degrees in accounting are common but not required. CPA or ProAdvisor is a plus but not required.
  • Highly organized. Ability to juggle multiple clients and coordinate a diverse team of bookkeepers with strong time management.
  • Great at building strong relationships. Ability to establish a trusted advisor relationship with clients.
  • A great communicator. Fluency in English (written and spoken) and professional communication skills.
  • Tech-savvy. Proficiency with computers; Excel experience preferred. QuickBooks Online or Desktop is required. Experience with Xero or NetSuite is not required but helpful.
  • An adaptable, fast learner. Able to dive into new client needs and adapt; not ideal for someone who prefers established processes.
