Job summary

Great Parks of Hamilton County is seeking a part-time Urban Forestry Survey Technician to support the Urban Forestry team in monitoring and preserving park trees. The role involves hands-on field work, equipment handling, and data collection across 18,000 acres.

In spring through fall you’ll assist with tree care operations, traffic control, and debris removal. In late fall and winter you’ll focus on locating trees using GPS, data entry, and public inquiries while supporting planting and

Qualifications

An acceptable qualification is enrollment in an associate’s/bachelor’s degree program in forestry, botany, natural resources, or related field with coursework/experience in tree identification (leaf on and leaf off).
Experience using professional-grade GPS with ArcPad or TerraSync software is a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist with traffic control, brush dragging, chipping woody debris, hauling equipment, and rigging during tree removals or pruning.
Support tree care operations in ground roles during spring through fall.
During late fall and winter, help evaluate and locate trees in parks and perform data entry tasks.
Respond to public inquiries and assist with tree-related concerns.
Perform equipment maintenance and participate in tree planting projects.
