Job summary

The YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester is seeking a caring Early Childhood Classroom Assistant for the UPK program at the Hawthorne location. This role supports the Lead Teacher to provide a safe, nurturing environment for preschoolers and aligns with NY OCFS regulations and UPK guidelines.

Part-time, 10-month school-year schedule follows the local district calendar. Opportunities for additional hours exist during school breaks and special program needs. Competitive hourly pay offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
• Experience with children ages 3–5 preferred.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of NY OCFS regulations and UPK guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher with daily preschool activities and routines.
• Support instruction and lead activities when appropriate.
• Familiarize with UPK guidelines and OCFS regulations.
• Maintain safe, healthy, inclusive classroom environment.
• Supervise children and uphold licensing ratios and safety standards.
• Complete required NY OCFS professional development and training.
