Part Time Universal Banker (20 - 25 hrs)

Overview

Specializes in our branch customer experience through sales, service, and digital engagement of our Consumer and Business Banking customers. Supports daily operations of the branch as a Teller and meets customer service and sales needs as required by the assigned branch. Holds customer appointments scheduled by customers and/or branch team as well as walk-in appointments to identify customer needs; refers complex customer needs to the appropriate team member/partner.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Educate customers and explain features and benefits of banking solutions; make recommendations based on customer needs.
  • Engage customers to bank with us and promote digital capabilities.
  • Explain criteria used to decide loan applications.
  • Complete servicing responsibilities and identify opportunities for additional banking needs.
  • Follow sales process and provide customer-focused advice.
  • Proactively reach out to retain and expand customer relationships.
  • Adhere to customer service standards and deliver solutions in key moments.
  • Actively manage lobby, greet customers, and address banking needs.
  • Introduce banking partners when appropriate.
  • Assist with AML, BSA, and KYC processes; escalate suspected fraud.
  • Resolve customer complaints and log interactions.
  • Review and resolve overdrafts, complete transactions, and document interactions.
  • Maintain compliance and internal control standards.
  • Support a welcoming environment reflecting M&T Bank’s brand.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
Scope of Responsibilities

Provide exceptional service, resolve problems, and drive sales. Collaborate across departments to ensure operational efficiency. Demonstrate empathy, customer centricity, digital fluency, and adaptability in servicing banking needs.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED and 1+ years in retail sales, customer service, or telesales.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle difficult conversations and manage time effectively.
  • Proficiency with internet technology.

Preferred: Bilingual, proven sales/referral ability.

Physical Requirements
  • Stand for long periods, lift 5-30 lbs, read fine print, interact face-to-face.
Compensation and Location

Pay range: $21.00 - $34.29/hour. Location: Baldwin Place, NY.
