Alvin Community College in Alvin, TX is seeking a part-time Tutor IV to support students in the Learning Commons. The role involves tutoring in Math, Anatomy & Physiology, Writing/English, History, ESOL, Health Sciences, and other areas, with emphasis on increasing student success.
The position requires a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends and may involve travel to offsite locations. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree or higher and strong communication and confidentiality
SUMMARY
Hourly Rate $25.15
This is a part-time student Tutor IV position located in the Learning Commons Department. Applications are considered and reviewed based on departmental needs. Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include working days, evenings and/or weekends. May require travel to our main campus in Alvin and/or to various offsite locations, including local high schools in Alvin, Danbury, Manvel and Pearland and to Texas Department of Criminal Justice facilities in Richmond, Rosharon or Lake Jackson. Fingerprinting is a requirement for the local ISD's per Texas Education Agency. Alvin College will reimburse the estimated cost of $50, if applicable.

Tutor diverse student populations in various subject areas. Answer academic questions, providing examples relating to the subject. Provide analytic and diagnostic services to increase student success. Ensure students individual learning needs are met. Refer students to necessary campus support services. Evaluate and recommend tutoring materials. Facilitate review sessions, workshops and trainings.
The incumbent typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office. Incumbent may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the work day.
The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to twenty (20) pounds.
