Job summary

Southwest Tennessee Community College is seeking part-time, professional tutors for the Academic Support Center at SWTCC - Macon Avenue Campus. Tutors provide learning support, reinforce coursework, and coach students in selected subjects, delivering sessions and front desk duties as needed.

Responsibilities include attending CRLA training, maintaining TutorTrac records, scheduling, collaborating with students, staff, and instructors, and aiding students with computer-related questions.

Qualifications

• Must not be a current Southwest student.
• Earned an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in related field from a regionally accredited institution.
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation.
• Please indicate at least two subject areas in which you can tutor.

Responsibilities

• Attend mandatory training sessions as required by CRLA.
• Maintain tutoring records in TutorTrac software.
• Be punctual and maintain work schedule.
• Have a willingness to work well as a team member with our population of students, staff, faculty, and community members.
• Provide, plan, and facilitate study sessions to students as needed.
• Communicate with supervisory personnel and instructors as needed.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty and staff when visiting classes/offices on behalf of the ASC.
• Ability to work with in-house reference library including checking in and out textbooks, materials, etc.
• Ability to assist students in troubleshooting computer-related questions, such as emails, course management systems, and basic computer usage.
• Ability to effectively work with students from all socio-economic and psychosocial backgrounds.
