Responsibilities

Summary

The Transportation Officer is responsible for securely transporting detainees and ensuring vehicle safety and maintenance.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-trip, during-trip, and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Provide written Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR) and report safety defects.
• Ensure permits and licenses are valid before trips; notify management of issues.
• Verify safety equipment is available and functional before trips.
• Complete all required paperwork accurately and timely.
• Secure detainees properly during transport and ensure all documentation is complete.
• Follow all safety laws, policies, and procedures during transportation.
• Report accidents immediately with detailed information.
• Deliver vehicles for servicing and pick them up when ready.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of experience handling prisoners or as a law enforcement, corrections, detention, or military police officer.
• At least 21 years old.
• U.S. citizenship and a valid driver license.
• 80 hours of certified driver’s training.
• State Firearms and Security Guard Licenses.
• Completion of approved training in corrections, law enforcement, or military.
• No preventable accidents or violations in the past three years.
• Pass company and DOT drug and alcohol tests.
• Ability to work overtime, travel, handle stress, and work long hours.
• Physical alertness and ability to work up to 16 hours in a 24-hour period.
• Ability to work with computers and obtain a USDOT medical card if required.
