ResponsibilitiesSummaryThe Transportation Officer is responsible for securely transporting detainees and ensuring that transportation vehicles are safe and well-maintained.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct pre-trip, during-trip, and post-trip inspections of vehicles.
- Provide written Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR) and report safety defects.
- Ensure all permits and licenses are valid before trips and notify management of issues.
- Verify safety equipment is present and functional before trips.
- Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and timely.
- Secure detainees properly during transport and ensure all documentation is complete.
- Follow all safety laws, policies, and procedures during transportation.
- Report accidents immediately with detailed information.
- Perform vehicle servicing and pickups.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsMinimum Requirements- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three years’ experience handling prisoners or as a law enforcement, corrections, detention, or military police officer.
- At least 21 years old.
- U.S. citizen with a valid driver’s license.
- 80 hours of verified driver’s training.
- State Firearms and Security Guard licenses.
- Certification in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military.
- Clean driving record for the past 3 years.
- Pass company and DOT drug and alcohol tests.
- Ability to work overtime, travel, handle stress, and work extended hours.
- Ability to work with computers and software used by the department.
