Part-Time Transportation Assistant (Temporary Assignment)

This is a temporary, part-time position supporting our transportation team, focusing on inspecting trucking devices (trackers) attached to roll-off boxes at Omni and customer facilities within approximately 100 miles of Lima, Ohio.

Pay and Schedule

Pay rate: $18.00 per hour

Schedule: 25-30 hours per week

Assignment duration: Approximately 3 months (May-July/August)

Responsibilities

• Drive to designated OmniSource yards or customer yards within 100 miles.
• Inspect roll-off boxes and verify device numbers.
• Cross-check device numbers with system data in Samsara to assess operational status.
• Identify and report inactive, malfunctioning, or at-risk devices.
• Communicate findings to the Transportation team for follow-up.
• Maintain accurate inspection records.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and minimum age of 18.
• Ability to travel daily between sites (no overnight travel).
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to inspection procedures.
• Comfort with using or learning online systems.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Effective communication skills for reporting findings.
