Job summary

QPS Employment Group is seeking a dispatcher for West Burlington, IA area. Position handles incoming calls, schedules transportation rides, and provides transit information to passengers and the public.

Ideal candidates have a High School diploma or GED and 1–2 years of related experience, plus strong telephone etiquette and communication skills. Part-time hours typical, with 12:00pm–5:00pm shifts Mon-Fri, and wage range $17.50–$19.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years of related experience preferred.
• Professional telephone etiquette and customer service skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with passengers, drivers and the public.
• Ability to schedule rides while actively communicating with passengers by phone.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls from passengers and the general public.
• Schedule transportation rides and maintain accurate trip information.
• Provide transit service information to passengers and community members.
• Communicate schedules, instructions, route updates, and service changes to transit drivers.
• Coordinate ride requests while balancing scheduling needs and service availability.
• Resolve scheduling conflicts and make adjustments to accommodate rider and operational needs.
• Maintain accurate records related to passenger trips and transportation schedules.
• Support daily transit operations through administrative and communication activities.
• Utilize computer programs and scheduling systems to manage transportation requests and service information.
• Assist passengers with questions regarding transit services, routes, and scheduling procedures.
