Job summary

The Salvation Army Midland Division Thrift Store in Marion, Illinois, seeks a part-time Store Worker (19 hours per week) to support the mission and handle customer service, sorting and pricing donated items, and display setup.

You will operate the cash register, make change, assist with loading/unloading, and perform custodial duties to keep the showroom clean. Basic math, reliable teamwork, and the ability to work with minimum supervision are required.

Qualifications

• High school/equivalent diploma and one-year related work experience or two years work experience without diploma.
• Ability to comprehend written job description, cleaning instructions and material safety data sheet.
• Must be able to operate a cash register, make correct change for items sold and be bondable.
• Must be a team player, a self-starter, and perform well with minimum supervision.

Responsibilities

• Interact with customers and other staff in a manner which promotes positive relationships.
• Sort donated items.
• Price donated items.
• Place donated items on racks/shelves for display.
• Assist in loading and unloading of the store’s truck, customers’ vehicles, and/or donors’ vehicles.
• Perform store custodial duties to include wash windows, dust, clean bathroom, sweep/vacuum/mop floors, carry out trash, etc. Each employee may be assigned to clean the break area.
