Job summary

The State of Connecticut's Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) seeks a part-time Rehabilitation Therapist 1 (Therapeutic Recreation) for Connecticut Valley Hospital in Middletown. You will provide active rehabilitation treatment, lead and co-lead groups, develop meaningful activities, assess and document patient progress to support recovery goals.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of professional experience in a professional rehabilitation therapeutic recreation program.
• Substitutions allowed: college training may substitute for experience at 15 hours equalling 1/2 year per Bachelor's degree.
• Preferred: experience in behavioral health inpatient settings and evaluating client progress.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate individual functioning and review medical, social and emotional histories.
• Write and implement treatment plans using a specific modality.
• Conduct individual and group activities and support discharge planning.
• Attend case conferences and document client progress and responses to treatment.
• Record progress and adjust activities based on assessments.
