Position Title: Part-time Temporary Lecturer in Latin American Studies

Instructional Faculty – Part-time Temporary/Lecturer Pool
The Latin American Studies Department at Cal State LA is seeking applications for a pool of part-time faculty lecturers for the 2025-2026 academic year, with positions filled as needed each semester.
Part-time faculty are hired with conditional appointments based on enrollment and budget. Hires are made when there are instructional needs due to changing enrollment patterns, faculty assignments, or other factors. Initial appointments are typically for one semester, with potential for renewal based on department needs, funding, and performance. Appointments are often made shortly before the semester starts, so availability on short notice may be required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must hold an appropriate degree from an accredited university (master's for undergraduate courses; doctoral or master's with substantial teaching experience for graduate courses). Demonstrated excellence in college-level teaching is required.
Applicants should demonstrate the ability to relate well within an academic environment and show interest or experience in working in a multiethnic, multicultural setting. Proficiency in written and oral English is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with diverse populations and fostering inclusive, collaborative environments. Relevant work experience and training are also valued.
Duties:
Responsibilities include instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours. Additional duties may be assigned based on departmental needs. Course assignments are made by the Department Chair under the College Dean's guidance.

Initial salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary ranges (per 7/1/2024 schedule):
The anticipated monthly hiring range is usually at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, most new hires at Lecturer A or B rank.
