The role focuses on maintaining and repairing custodial equipment such as vacuums, extractors, buffers, and autoscrubbers, with occasional minor electrical/mechanical repairs and inventory management.

The position requires a High school degree and a valid Arizona Type D driver's license, with work hours 4am–8am Monday through Friday on-site.

Special Information

This position is an on-site position which requires the incumbent to complete their work primarily at an NAU site, campus, or facility with or without accommodation. Opportunities for remote work are rare. Driving a vehicle on behalf of the university is anticipated to be a regular part of this position. Arizona Administrative Code Fleet Safety Policy requires all employees who drive on university business become authorized by submitting Driver's license information for driving record monitoring, and completion of training appropriate to the level of driving performed. The law applies to all faculty, staff, and students who drive personal or university-owned motorized vehicles for any business purpose. The Northern Arizona University Facility Services Custodial Department is currently hiring a Part-Time Temp Equipment Mechanic. The Custodial Department's goal is to provide a clean, attractive and healthy learning environment. About the Position

The Equipment Mechanic position reports to the Custodial Operations Manager and performs maintenance and repair duties to custodial equipment including vacuums, extractors, buffers, burnishers, autoscrubbers, and other custodial equipment. Maintenance and repairs include cord repair, replacing switches, replacing small motors, and other minor equipment repairs. This position also diagnoses complex repairs to be sent to a contractor. The successful candidate will be required to work 4am till 8am - Monday through Friday. Additional hours may be available.

Responsibilities Include

90% Equipment Maintenance and Repair

• Performs maintenance and repair duties to custodial equipment
• Maintenance and repairs include cord repair, replacing switches
• Maintains records on equipment repair and maintenance activities.
• Demonstrates working knowledge of routine work processes and tools.
• Ensures work is done safely and according to state regulations.

Monitors and maintains equipment replacement parts inventory and requisitions replacement parts.

10% Other

• May shovel and remove snow and ice from designated areas such as sidewalks, and entryways as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school degree
• Possession of a current Arizona Type D driver's license.
