Job summary

Independence Bank is seeking a Teller to handle bank transactions and customer interactions at our Kentucky locations. You will be the first face customers see, with duties that include deposits, withdrawals, payments, and sales of basic banking products.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, 1 year teller experience, and completion of the bank’s Teller Certification within 6 months. Expect a Saturday rotation and occasional drive-thru work.

  • Requires completion of Teller Fundamentals and Teller Level Up training within three months.

Responsibilities

  • Greet all customers and visitors entering lobby or drive-thru.
  • Process daily transactions including deposits, cashing checks, loan payments, and cash disbursements.
  • Cash checks and payout money after verification of signatures, amounts, and sufficient funds.
  • Explain, promote, and sell cashier’s checks and prepaid gift cards.
  • Perform services for customers including ordering bank cards and checks.
  • Record all transactions promptly and accurately per bank procedures.
  • Answer inquiries regarding checking and savings accounts and other bank products.
  • Assist customers with account errors or problems, providing balances.
  • Balance currency, cash and checks in cash drawer daily; arrange monies by denomination.
  • Promote and maintain positive relations with customers and potential customers.
  • May be responsible for bank openings/closings; may work drive-thru or float to other locations.

Job Summary

A Teller undertakes bank transactions and interacts directly with customers. A Teller is usually the first person a customer sees when they walk into one of our locations. This position will be required to work into a Saturday rotation.

Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Greets all customers and visitors when they enter the location lobby or approach the drive-thru
  • Processes daily transactions including receiving deposits, cashing checks, accepting loan payments, and disbursing cash
  • Cashes checks and payout money after verifying that signatures are correct, that written and numerical amounts agree, and that accounts have sufficient funds
  • Explains, promotes, and sells specialized products such as cashier’s checks and prepaid gift cards
  • Performs services for customers including ordering bank cards and checks
  • Records all transactions promptly, accurately, and in accordance with bank procedures
  • Answers inquiries regarding checking and savings accounts and other bank related products
  • Assists customers in solving account errors or problems, providing account balances, etc.
  • Balances currency, cash and checks in cash drawer daily; arrange monies according to denomination
  • Promotes and maintains positive relations with all contacts, customers, and potential customers
  • May be responsible for bank openings and/or closings
  • May be required to work drive thru
  • May be required to float to other locations
