General Summary

Under close supervision and in conformance with established bank policies and procedures, cash checks, receive deposits, and perform a variety of transactions as requested by clients or teammates. Responsible for balancing each day's transactions, and maintaining cash drawer accuracy. Provides exceptional client service. Answers general questions regarding bank products/services. Recommends additional services to clients and makes referrals accordingly.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receives checks and cash for deposits to accounts, verifies amounts, examines checks for proper endorsement, and enters deposits into computer records.
  • Cashes checks and processes withdrawals; pays out money after verification of signatures and client balances.
  • Cross sells other financial institution services such as consumer and commercial loans, IRAs, certificates of deposit, safe deposit boxes, eStatements, etc.
  • Receives loan and other payments and ensures the payments match balances due. Enters payments into computer. Generates client receipts.
  • Place holds on accounts for uncollected funds.
  • Counts, checks and packages coins and currency.
  • Balances cash drawer at the end of the shift and compares totaled amounts to computer generated proof sheet. Reports any discrepancies to a supervisor immediately.
  • Ensures that the teller station is properly stocked with forms, supplies, etc.
  • Reports malfunctions of teller terminals and other equipment used at the teller station.
  • Responsible for checking night depository bags and recording proper information on the financial institution's forms.
  • Balances and restocks the ATM as directed by the Head Teller or Branch Manager.
  • Responsible for actively working with other employees to grow the organization.
  • Building the Bank.

  • Ensure optimal standards are adhered to for Brand.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum, high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Six months of experience in a professional office or client service setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in business.
  • One year of cash handling experience.
  • Six months to one year teller experience at a financial institution.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Satisfactory credit and ability to pass a background check required.

Required Competencies - KSAs

  • Ability to communicate effectively and interact positively with clients as well as fellow associates.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and a wide range of procedures requiring some judgment.
  • Knowledgeable and familiar with Microsoft Office.
  • Requires concentration to avoid mistakes in counting cash.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations using various business machines and/or computers.
  • Ability to print legibly and accurately on forms and records.

Working Conditions

  • Lobby environment with high client traffic area.
  • Professional office environment.
  • Some travel required for job-related meetings and trainings.

  • The person in this position frequently communicates with clients, non-clients, and team members. Must be able to regularly exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Must be able to identify data needed to perform duties.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery productively. Such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 50 percent of the time.
  • Must be able to move about inside the office space for 50 percent of the time.
  • Regularly moves currency with some bags weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly positions self to reach lower spaces in vault.
