Job summary

The Credit Union is looking for a reliable Bank Teller to provide exceptional customer service and handle deposits, withdrawals, and routine financial transactions in a fast-paced branch. You will balance cash, verify signatures, and help members understand accounts and services, including cross-selling suitable products.

Strong communication and accuracy are essential. Candidates should be knowledgeable about applicable regulations and possess solid computer skills; experience with the Symitar

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to adhere to internal policies and external regulations (NCUA, BSA, etc.).
• Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine member transactions: deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, loan payments, transfers, money orders, disbursements, and check cashing.
• Explain, promote, and cross-sell Credit Union products and services.
• Balance cash drawer and reconcile to source documents and Episys totals at shift end.
• Cashes checks and disburses funds after verifying signatures and funds availability.
• Respond to member requests and refer to appropriate personnel as needed.
• Follow teller standards and provide SPARK! member service.
• Comply with Federal and State laws including BSA, Patriot Act, and related regulations.
• Operate Symitar system and cash handling equipment including ATMs where applicable.

Essential Function And Responsibilities

The Bank Teller will complete deposits, withdrawals, and other financial interactions while providing excellent customer service to all customers. This includes, but is not limited to:

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform routine member transactions, including but not limited to deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, loan payments, transfers, money orders, disbursements, and check cashing


• Explain, promote, and cross sell the products and services the Credit Union offers.


• Know and understand the policies and procedures of the Credit Union and able to explain them to the members.


• Balance cash drawer, coin, currency and checks to source documents and the Episys totals at the end of each shift.


• Cashes checks and disburses funds after verifying signatures and sufficiency of funds to support withdrawals.


• Accepts deposits, confirming accuracy of transaction.


• Evaluates checks to verify endorsements, dates, identification of persons receiving payments, bank names, and overall legality of the documents.


• Maintains a work area that ensures the safety of all negotiables and confidential records.


• Follow proper cash handling procedures.


• Be proficient in using the Symitar system.


• Load and unload cash recycler and ATM's (in the Credit Union).


• Examine checks for endorsements and negotiability to determine what, if any, hold is needed.


• Respond to member's requests, problems and complaints, and/or direct them to the proper person for specific information and assistance.


• Receive information pertaining to member's accounts and route to proper person. Give professional, friendly, accurate service to all members.


• Follow teller Standards with all members


• Answer phone calls to aid in excellent member service


• Provide SPARK! Member service, have strong communication skills (verbal and written) and be able to find solutions to difficult problems.


• Understand and can comply with all Federal and State laws and regulations including the Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act, Military Lending Act, Office of Foreign Asset Controls, FCRA, Graham Leach- Bliley, and all applicable lending regulations.


• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy and have multi-tasking capabilities


• Ability to adhere to internal policies as well as external policies and regulations set forth by the NCUA


• Proficient in computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft products


• Be adaptable to change and embrace SPARK! service standards


• Excellent oral communication skills


• Consultative Sales experience is a plus

Education

• High School Diploma, GED equivalency or higher

• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Certifications, Licenses

• Must be bondable.
