Job summary

Amherst-Pelham Regional Public Schools seeks a part-time Technology/Engineering Teacher for Amherst Regional Middle School. The role centers on introducing middle school students to engineering design, technology, and hands-on fabrication through project-based learning.

Collaboration with high school staff will align curricula and create a cohesive pathway from middle school exploration to advanced coursework.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Massachusetts educator licensure, or eligibility to obtain licensure, for technology/engineering teaching responsibilities.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the engineering design process and project-based or experiential learning.
• Ability to provide engaging instruction to middle school students with varied experience.
• Commitment to educational equity and expanding access to tech/engineering learning.
• Ability to establish an inclusive, collaborative, and safe learning environment.
• Strong communication, organization, collaboration, and classroom-management skills.
• Ability to safely use and supervise tools/equipment in the program.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver standards-aligned intro technology and engineering instruction.
• Engage students in the engineering design process: identify problems, research, prototype, test, refine.
• Develop project-based learning experiences applying science, math, technology, creativity, and critical thinking.
• Introduce CAD/CAM concepts and relevant software/equipment to middle schoolers.
• Teach safe use of hand tools, digital tools, and fabrication equipment.
• Foster a classroom culture of experimentation, collaboration, and resilient learning.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse linguistic and social-emotional needs.
• Collaborate with peers and administrators to align curriculum from middle to high school.
