Job description

Part-Time Teacher's Aide

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing educational curriculum and providing stimulating and developmentally appropriate activities which support the developmental level of each child.
  • Observe, maintain documentation through antidotal records, assess children’s development, and assist in creating individualized lesson plans to meet those needs.
  • Employ verbal and written communication to convey essential information to parents, students and colleagues.
  • Work in collaboration with the Child Development/Early Childhood Education Department.
  • Remain current in child development theories and practices by attending workshops, training and college classes.
  • Attend community functions building a partnership with children and families.
  • Maintain a safe environment by daily inspections of classrooms and playground.
  • Inventory and identify necessary material and supplies for classrooms.
  • Assume the duties of Lead and/or Assistant Teacher as needed.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by the center manager.

Work Environment:

  • Potential exposure to bodily fluids (urine, feces, blood, emesis, mucus, saliva)
  • Harmful chemicals, such as bleach and household cleaners.

Physical Activity:

  • Lifting up to 50 pounds of force.
  • Walking, standing, sitting, and/or bending.
  • Ability to lift children.
  • Move, rearrange furniture and area rugs.
  • Move outdoor play equipment (trikes, tarps, etc.)

Required Certifications/Licenses:

  • Pediatric CPR and First Aid

*Upon hiring, you have up to two weeks in order to obtain CPR and First Aid certification.

Preferred:

  • AAS or AA in Early Childhood or related field.
  • Minimum of three years experience in an early childhood setting
  • CDA or a minimum of 12 hours in a college’s Early Child Development Courses
