Sure SWPPP is seeking a dependable, professional, and organized Part-Time SWPPP Inspector to perform construction storm water inspections in Tyler and the surrounding East Texas area.

This field-based role requires regular travel between active construction sites. You will use your personal vehicle for visits and be reimbursed for eligible business mileage at the current IRS standard rate. Training on SWPPP requirements, inspection procedures, and our software will be provided.

Job Summary

Sure SWPPP is seeking a dependable, professional, and organized Part-Time SWPPP Inspector to perform construction storm water inspections in the Tyler and surrounding East Texas area.

This is a field-based position that requires regular travel between active construction sites. The inspector will use their personal vehicle for site visits and will be reimbursed for eligible business mileage at the current IRS standard mileage reimbursement rate.

Mileage will be calculated for travel between the first assigned inspection site and the last assigned inspection site of the workday. Normal commuting mileage to the first inspection site and from the final inspection site home is not included in reimbursable mileage.

Previous SWPPP experience is helpful but not required for the right candidate. We are primarily looking for someone who is reliable, organized, professional, comfortable working independently, and confident navigating active construction sites.

Sure SWPPP will provide training on SWPPP requirements, inspection procedures, documentation, and our inspection software.

What You'll Do

• Perform routine SWPPP inspections at active construction sites throughout Tyler and the surrounding East Texas area
• Inspect erosion and sediment controls and other storm water Best Management Practices (BMPs)
• Identify deficiencies, maintenance needs, and corrective actions
• Take clear and organized site photographs
• Complete electronic inspection reports accurately and on time
• Manage an assigned schedule of project sites
• Communicate professionally with project managers, superintendents, contractors, and customers
• Maintain organized inspection records and documentation
• Travel between multiple inspection sites using your personal vehicle
• Monitor stabilization, construction entrances, perimeter controls, material storage areas, drainage features, and other site conditions
• Represent Sure SWPPP professionally while working at customer job sites

Preferred Experience

SWPPP experience is not required. Training will be provided for qualified candidates.

Work Environment

This is primarily a field position.

Employees will regularly drive between construction projects and walk active job sites. Sites may include uneven terrain, mud, slopes, active earthwork, construction equipment, and changing weather conditions.

Applicants should be comfortable working outdoors in typical East Texas weather conditions.

Compensation

$26–$30 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Candidates with previous SWPPP, environmental compliance, erosion-control, or construction inspection experience may qualify toward the higher end of the range.

Mileage Reimbursement

The employee will use their personal vehicle for inspection-related travel.

Eligible business mileage will be reimbursed at the current IRS standard mileage rate.

For purposes of mileage reimbursement:

• Mileage begins at the first assigned inspection site of the workday
• Mileage includes travel between assigned inspection sites
• Mileage ends at the last assigned inspection site of the workday
• Normal commuting mileage from home to the first inspection site is not reimbursed
• Normal commuting mileage from the final inspection site back home is not reimbursed

The employee will be responsible for accurately documenting reimbursable business mileage.

Schedule

This is a part-time position with hours based on project volume and inspection requirements.

Weekly hours may vary depending on the number of active projects, weather, regulatory inspection requirements, and the geographic location of assigned sites.

Some scheduling flexibility is required because inspection schedules may occasionally change due to weather, construction activity, or regulatory requirements.
