Job summary

YMCA of Greater Indianapolis Fishers location is seeking an Assistant Swim Instructor to deliver safe, engaging swim classes under supervision, following YMCA safety guidelines.

The role requires age 14+, ability to swim, and progression through required First Aid and YMCA certifications within set timeframes; part-time hours and flexible scheduling offered, with professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Age 14+ requirement.
• Must demonstrate emotional maturity and judgment.
• Ability to swim as determined by a swim test (strokes you will instruct; ability to tread water 2+ minutes).
• Maintain current First Aid certification or obtain within 60 days of employment.
• Once turning 16, obtain Lifeguard or Aquatic Safety Assistant certification or obtain within 90 days.
• Ability to obtain YMCA certifications such as Basic Swim Lesson Instructor and/or Water Fitness Instructor.
• Current certifications or ability to obtain New Employee Orientation, Child Abuse Prevention and Safety and Risk Management within 60-90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and challenging swim classes according to YMCA and safety guidelines under the direction of the Program Coordinator and/or Aquatics Director.
