Job summary

The YMCA of Greater San Francisco is seeking a part-time Swim Coach to deliver high-quality aquatic training in an indoor facility. Under the Aquatics Leader, you will implement an inclusive program for all participants and contribute to team development.

Responsibilities include designing workouts, leading groups, planning meets, and working with parents while maintaining safety. Certifications and background checks are required, with opportunities for growth within youth development programs.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of coaching experience with various ages.
• Supervise and coach swimmers on deck and in water, ensuring safety and inclusivity.
• Knowledge of swimming techniques, strokes, diving, turns, and related skills.
• Basic Life Support or CPR/AED certification—renewed annually.
• First Aid certification.
• Red Cross Safety Training for Swim Coaches or Lifeguard certification (valid 2 years).
• YMCA Principles of Competitive Swimming & Diving.

Responsibilities

• Lead Swim Team Development from beginner to advanced levels.
• Design workouts and practice plans for various skill levels.
• Plan, conduct, and supervise meets, practices, and events.
• Create a positive, inclusive team culture and environment.
• Collaborate with Aquatics Leader and parents for effective communication.
• Organize a year-round meet calendar and lineups.
• Promote clinics and accessible participation for all members.
