Job summary

Abroad Work is seeking a Surveying Technician in Washington, DC to assist the surveying team with land surveys, data collection, and map creation using GPS, total stations, and EDM devices. You will compile data, support report preparation, and ensure calibration of equipment while working closely with the licensed surveyor.

The role is part-time (20 hours per week), with visa sponsorship available for qualified candidates and a focus on accurate, detail-oriented data collection in outdoor

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in surveying or related field.
  • Proficiency in using surveying equipment such as GPS receivers, total stations, and electronic distance-measuring devices.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or GIS.
  • Excellent mathematical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting land surveys using various surveying techniques such as leveling, traversing, and triangulation.
  • Use specialized equipment to measure distances, angles, elevations, and contours.
  • Input collected data into computer software to create detailed maps and plans.
  • Conduct research and gather information on property boundaries, easements, and other relevant data.
  • Assist in analyzing data and preparing reports for clients.
  • Maintain surveying equipment and ensure proper calibration.
  • Work closely with the surveyor to ensure accuracy of data collection.
