Job summary

Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) seeks part-time clinical instructors for the Surgical Technology Program to observe and evaluate students in hospital settings, and assist in teaching both classroom and lab activities. Hours are arranged based on instructor and clinical site schedules, with potential for classroom and lab teaching as openings occur.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited surgical technology program.
• Must be a certified surgical technologist (CST) who has passed the NBSTSA certification exam.
• Minimum total of two years experience in the operating room first scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology within the past five years.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned class(es) in accordance with department expectations.
• Observe, instruct and evaluate students in the clinical setting weekly to bi-weekly.
• Provide timely feedback to students on their clinical performance.
• Communicate with clinical site personnel regarding student performance and program expectations.
• Submit all required clinical assessments to the Academic Chair/Clinical Coordinator.
• Attend off-campus locations with on-campus presence as needed.
• Maintain certification credentials and provide proof within 5 days of recertification.
• Participate in faculty meetings and program advisory board activities.
