Part Time Summer Maintenance - Christ the King, South Bend (South Bend, IN)

OVERVIEW

The maintenance summer position is a part-time hourly member of the staff at Christ the King Catholic Church and School. This position reports to the Maintenance Director and works a five-day, 30-hour work week with occasional weekend hours. The summer maintenance is a seasonal position beginning in June and ending mid-August.

Maintenance/housekeeping staff is expected to represent the parish in a professional manner. He or she should maintain a professional appearance, and honor all appointments. Prior to starting this position, a Safe Environment background check is required along with training.

JOB DUTIES

1. This position regularly performs cleaning up the grounds, painting, moving furniture, and other duties assigned by the Maintenance Director.
2. Complies with OSHA standards for cleaning spills and human products.
3. Assists outside contractors in the performance of their duties.
4. Provides cover and acts as the fill-in person for maintenance/housekeeping staff members who have called in sick, on vacation, or are otherwise unable to cover their normal work duties.
5. Ensures the safety and security of all school and parish facilities by properly locking and unlocking all doors at the appointed hours.
6. Ensures the safety of the grounds, including working with contracted personnel and maintenance staff to remove hazards and debris from walkways, driveways, and sidewalks.
7. Participates in the setup and cleanup of parish functions as needed.
8. Performs all work order requests in a timely fashion.
9. Communicates regularly with the Maintenance Director to keep him/her informed of all major issues, unexpected problems, and equipment needs.
10. Performs other duties as assigned by the Property Manager, Business Manager, and Pastor.

Physical Requirements

Sitting, standing, walking, climbing ladders, squatting/kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing/pulling, twisting/bending, and lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs multiple times per shift.
