Job summary

University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson is seeking a Student Nurse Tech for the Adult Acute Care units. The role operates under the direct supervision of an RN, and is a part-time, non-benefited position based in the adult and children’s hospital units, floating to designated clinical areas to provide direct and indirect patient care learned through the nursing program.

The program has three levels that expand as competencies are completed.

Qualifications

• Must be actively enrolled and progressing full time in an accredited RN nursing program.

Responsibilities

• Records vital signs, intake, outputs, pulse oximetry and weights accurately.
• Assists and prepares patients for treatment, exams, and procedures as directed by RN.
• Administers and performs baths and basic hygiene measures as directed by RN.
• Assists with collection and delivery of specimens to appropriate labs timely.
• Weighs, lifts, turns, and repositions patients with proper body mechanics.
• Submits proper patient charges for supplies/equipment and reports equipment issues.
