Job summary

Avon Community School Corporation in Indiana is seeking a part-time Student Support/Instructional Assistant (Asst-Interventionist) for Sycamore Elementary. The role supports the classroom and assists the teacher in achieving learning objectives, including working with individuals or small groups and supporting behavior plans as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to relate well and communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and classroom volunteers.
• No prior experience required; classroom experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains schedule as developed by supervising teacher.
• Works with individual or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
• Guides independent study, enrichment work, and intervention work as set up and assigned by the teacher.
• Alerts the classroom teacher to any problem or specific information about an individual student.
• Accompanies students to general education and special area classes and supports them in those areas.
• Maintains records and collects data as directed by the teacher.
