Job summary

Dayton Performing Arts Alliance is hiring a Teaching Artist for the Preparatory School String Chamber Ensemble. This part‑time, seasonal role runs Sundays Oct–Apr, with an opening Sept 20, 2026 and a through Apr 25, 2027, 4:30–7:30 p.m. on Sundays.

Compensation is $40 per class; contract renewal possible for next season. Responsibilities include coaching string quartets and ensembles, selecting literature with the Curriculum Coordinator, and contributing to recruitment and community engagement

Qualifications

• Demonstrated training in string pedagogy or chamber coaching.
• Extensive knowledge of string quartet and chamber repertoire.
• Willingness to collaborate with students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Coach string chamber ensembles (quartets, trios, quintets) for high school/advanced students.
• Select and adapt string literature for varying levels in collaboration with Curriculum Coordinator.
• Lead rehearsals, set goals, and communicate progress to students and guardians.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in program activities and performances.
