Job summary

COX SCIENCE CENTER AND AQUARIUM INC in West Palm Beach invites an Educator to teach assigned science classes or outreach programs in a classroom setting, following the curriculum established by the Director of Education, with an emphasis on hands-on learning.

The role requires adapting lessons to meet program objectives, monitoring students for safety, reporting incidents promptly, and delivering engaging, clear explanations about South Florida ecosystems to diverse audiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and minimum two years teaching experience.
• Interest in public education relating to South Florida ecosystems and environment.
• Energetic, creative and engaging with a sense of humor.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to deal effectively and courteously with the general public and co-workers.
• Excellent organizational, time management and supervisory skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Instructs students to advance an understanding of the sciences in a hands-on setting.
• Adapts curriculum and lesson plans to meet and/or improve program objectives.
• Monitor all students and activities, keeping an eye to safety.
• Report any incidents to Director of Education or Camp Director.
• Adheres to the policies and procedures of the Center.
• Other duties as required to fulfill the duties of the position.
