Job summary

Upstate Medical University’s Syracuse Campus is seeking Standardized Patients to help train future healthcare providers. No medical background is required; SPs portray patients using case scripts, answer questions, and allow students to perform basic, non-invasive exams while wearing hospital gowns over undergarments.

SPs provide verbal and written feedback, complete computerized checklists, and participate in video-recorded sessions used only for education.

Qualifications

• At least 17 years old and authorized to work in the U.S.
• Live in the Syracuse, NY area and have reliable transportation
• Able to read, write, and speak English clearly
• Basic computer and email proficiency
• Comfortable being examined, videotaped (educational use only), and giving feedback
• Able to memorize and realistically portray assigned patient cases
• Willing to accept coaching and remain in character during simulations
• Maintain strict confidentiality

Responsibilities

• Provide verbal and written feedback after scenarios.

• Participate in video-recorded sessions used for educational purposes.
