Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced welding instructor (Part-Time) to join our instructional team. The current need is for someone with STICK (SMAW) welding experience on Stainless Steel and Structural Steel. Any TIG (GTAW) and MIG/FLUX-CORE (GMAW/FCAW) experience is a bonus. This is an excellent opportunity for a trade professional to help develop the next generation of union Millwrights, Dockbuilders and Carpenters with specialized skills in welding, cutting and fabrication.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Teach hands-on classes in STICK (SMAW) for Stainless Steels and other materials. Other welding techniques and processes in our curriculum could be added to future classes under your supervision.
  • Provide instruction on proper safety procedures, equipment setup, and maintenance.
  • Introduce apprentices and journey-level members to blueprint reading and layout related to stainless steel fabrication.
  • Reinforce industry best practices and union standards.
  • Support learners with varying skill levels in both classroom and shop environments.
  • Assist with curriculum development and class planning when needed.

Requirements:

  • Journey-level Millwright, Dockbuilder/Timberman or Carpenter with relevant welding experience to our trade.
  • Strong proficiency in SMAW welding with Stainless Steel experience. TIG and MIG/FLUX-CORE (wire-fed) processes a plus.Prior teaching, mentoring, or leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to clearly demonstrate and explain technical processes to small groups.
  • Must be reliable, safety-focused, and passionate about the trade.

The hourly rate for this position is based on the General Foreman rate of the Collective Bargaining Agreement; currently $61.05 per hour.
