Responsibilities

Summary

The Senior Transportation Officer serves as a lead worker assigned by the Assistant Director, Transportation in high-risk operations and high-profile federal government transportation contracts. The role requires a CDL Class B with a (“P”) passenger endorsement. The officer is responsible for securely transporting detainees between destinations and ensuring that transportation vehicles are safe and properly maintained. This position also involves assisting management with unexpected problems to develop effective and efficient solutions.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assist management when unexpected problems arise during detainee transportation and develop solutions.
  • Review vehicle inspection reports, develop summaries, and suggest improvements.
  • Ensure all permits and licenses for vehicles are current.
  • Verify safety equipment is in place before trips and notify management of issues.
  • Track DOT HOS using Electronic Logging Devices.
  • Assist with interviewing and screening Transport Officer applicants.
  • Review and submit all necessary paperwork and reports accurately and timely.
  • Ensure transportation safety measures meet or exceed PBNDS/FBNDS standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; applicable state employment requisites.
  • At least 21 years old.
  • U.S. citizen with a valid driver’s license.
  • Three years of law enforcement-related experience, including two years as a lead supervisor, or completion of GEO’s Supervision Training Course.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • State Firearms and Security Guard Licenses.
  • Certification in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military training.
  • Clean driving record with no preventable accidents or suspensions for the past three years.
  • Pass company and DOT drug and alcohol tests.
  • Ability to work overtime, travel, and handle physical and mental stress.
  • Ability to work up to 16 hours within 24 hours, be physically alert, and pass background checks.
  • Willingness to travel on short notice and work with computers.
