Responsibilities
Summary
The Senior Transportation Officer serves as a lead worker in high-risk operations and federal government contracts, requiring a CDL Class B with a passenger endorsement. The role involves securely transporting detainees, maintaining vehicle safety, and assisting management in resolving unexpected issues.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist management with unexpected problems during transportation and develop solutions.
- Review vehicle inspection reports, summarize findings, and suggest improvements.
- Ensure all permits and licenses are current for assigned vehicles.
- Verify safety equipment before trips and report issues beforehand.
- Track DOT HOS using Electronic Logging Devices.
- Assist with interviewing and screening Transport Officer applicants.
- Maintain accurate paperwork and reports, submitting them according to policy.
- Ensure transportation safety measures meet or exceed PBNDS/FBNDS standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; valid state requisites for employment.
- At least 21 years old and a U.S. citizen.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Three years of law enforcement experience, including two years in a supervisory role, or completion of GEO’s Supervision Training Course.
- Leadership experience and relevant certifications (Firearms, Security Guard, Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military).
- Ability to pass background checks, drug and alcohol tests, and meet DOT medical requirements.
- Willingness to work overtime, travel extensively, and handle physical and mental stress.
- Ability to work up to 16 hours in a 24-hour period, report punctually, and work with department software.
