Under supervision, you will support instructional activities and assist students with special learning needs, helping with materials, records, and behavior management. The role includes tutoring individuals or small groups, preparing instructional aids, and maintaining a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of child growth and development and behavior characteristics for students with special learning needs.
• Knowledge of behavior management strategies for students with atypical control problems.
• Proficiency in English usage, punctuation, spelling and grammar.
• Basic arithmetical concepts.
• Routine record storage, retrieval, and management procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist instructional personnel with presentation of materials and instructional exercises in Basic Life Skills classroom.
• Tutor individual students and small groups under teacher direction.
• Monitor and assist students with special needs during drills, practice and study activities.
• Direct students to safe learning activities and foster social behaviors.
• Assist in managing acting-out behavior using positive reinforcement techniques.
