Job summary

McLaren Port Huron is seeking a part-time ultrasound technologist to perform diagnostic imaging with RDMS certification, adhering to established policies and safety standards. The role involves patient history intake, explaining procedures, operating ultrasound equipment, and ensuring high-quality imaging as directed by physicians.

The ideal candidate will have an RDMS, a high school diploma, and current BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Graduation from an approved school of medical sonography.
• Registration as Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS).
• Current BLS certification and/or Canadian equivalent

Responsibilities

• Specializes in performing ultrasound diagnostic studies.
• Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns to foster comfort.
• Operates and maintains all assigned ultrasound scanning equipment to ensure proper function.
• Positions patients, selects transducers and machine settings, and conducts scanning procedures to capture physician requests.
• Maintains documentation, logs, charts, forms and records in paper and electronic formats.
• Performs QA processes and practices radiation safety to reduce exposure, complying with regulations.
• Maintains adequate supply of consumables for quality testing.
• Performs routine maintenance and function checks on imaging equipment.
• May assist other areas of radiology as assigned.
• Performs other related duties as required and directed.
