Job summary

Clayton County Public Schools in Jonesboro, Georgia, seeks a Lay Coach - Non-Certified (Asst Softball Coach) to support the Head Coach in delivering sports coaching to K-12 students. Immediate start, stipend-based, part-time role with travel to off-site locations and outdoor duties.

Responsibilities include instructing students, helping with equipment, coordinating tryouts and practice schedules, promoting safety, and fostering healthy lifestyles.

Qualifications

• GHSA requires PREPARE/First Aid and Principles for Coaching exams within 3 months of class date.
• 21+ age recommended.
• Ability to manage projects and priorities with strong teamwork and communication.
• GHSA coaching exam required.
• Emphasize safety, training procedures and injury prevention.
• Regular, frequent contact with internal/external personnel; strong interpersonal skills.
• High level of accountability for supervision of athletes, equipment and staff.
• Outdoor work 70%+; travel to off-site locations; lifting.
• This position pays a stipend.

Responsibilities

• Instructs and coaches K-12 students on fundamentals of sports.
• Assist Head Coach with equipment issuance and coordinating try-outs.
• Coordinate and supervise practice schedules; supervise athletes and teams.
• Encourage athletes to participate at an appropriate level.
• Coordinate with staff to create opportunities and promote healthy lifestyles.
• Perform all other duties as required.
