Bishop O’Dowd High School in Oakland, CA, is seeking a part-time Softball Assistant Coach to support the program's spiritual, social, physical, and intellectual growth of student-athletes.

You will assist with skill development, practice planning, and game-day tasks while upholding the school's Catholic identity and mission. This role requires after-school hours and weekend availability, with compensation of $19 per hour for the season from February through mid-May.

Qualifications

• Playing experience and/or knowledge of softball required.
• Previous high school or college coaching experience preferred.
• First Aid CPR or willingness to do so.
• NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certificate or willingness to do so.

Responsibilities

• Upholds and models a spiritual and moral code aligned with the Catholic identity of Bishop O’Dowd High School.
• Assists with coaching, planning, and developing practice schedules and player development.
• Attends regular coaching staff meetings and represents the school when needed.
• Helps ensure compliance with school and league policies and bylaws.
• Supports student-athlete recruitment and manages program equipment and uniforms.
• Creates a caring environment and promotes safety, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
• Maintains after-school and weekend availability for practices and games.
• Assists with directing practices and matches under the head coach.
