Cumberland County is seeking a part-time Regional Social Service Liaison to administer General Assistance for residents of municipalities that contract with the County. The liaison interviews applicants, determines eligibility, and connects residents with resources, traveling among participating town offices. Specific workdays and any evening or weekend coverage will be set by the County.

Compensation is $26.39 to $28.02 per hour. This 24-hour-per-week role has a limited benefits package.

• Valid Maine Driver’s License required.
• Knowledge of General Assistance law and municipal ordinances; ability to apply promptly.
• Discretion handling sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality.
• Strong interviewing and recordkeeping abilities; timely decision making.

• Receive applications, interview applicants, verify circumstances, and determine eligibility and need under General Assistance rules.
• Document decisions and maintain confidential case files and reports.
• Coordinate with contracted towns on program delivery, policy compliance, performance and budget monitoring.
• Prepare vouchers and invoices for payment and maintain related records.
• Communicate respectfully with applicants, municipal staff, County colleagues and service providers; use translation services when appropriate.
• Perform related administrative duties consistent with the position.
