Job summary

Global – A 1st Flagship Company is seeking a Part-Time Training Manager to develop and manage training programs for shipyard industrial trades in Portsmouth, VA. You will deliver hands-on and classroom training, onboard new hires, and refreshers while ensuring OSHA, NAVSEA, and contract compliance.

In this role you will maintain training schedules, curricula, qualification tracking, and training materials, and you will collaborate with Operations, Safety, HR, and Quality to address skill gaps

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a shipyard, manufacturing, or industrial trades environment.
• 2+ years in training, workforce development, or instruction.
• Strong knowledge of industrial trades (mechanical, electrical, welding, etc.).
• Familiarity with OSHA standards and industrial safety practices.
• Experience delivering both hands-on and classroom training.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage training programs for shipyard industrial trades (welding, electrical, pipefitting, rigging, etc.)
• Deliver hands-on and classroom training, including onboarding and refresher courses
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, NAVSEA, and contract requirements
• Maintain training schedules, curricula, and qualification tracking systems
• Track and report training metrics, certifications, and workforce readiness
• Design and update training materials, SOPs, and work instructions
• Evaluate trainee performance and implement feedback and remediation plans
• Support audits by maintaining accurate, audit-ready training records
• Partner with Operations, Safety, HR, and Quality teams to identify skill gaps and training needs
