Job summary

Qualifications

• Current driver’s license and an excellent driving record.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Compassion, patience, and empathy in working with seniors.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Safely drives residents to medical appointments, outings, and other destinations.
• Adheres to traffic laws, regulations, and facility policies to ensure safety.
• Assists residents into and out of the vehicle.
• Secures passengers’ wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs while driving.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to coordinate transportation schedules and ensure resident needs are met.
• Maintains the cleanliness and safety of the vehicle, performing routine inspections, refueling and reporting maintenance needs.
• Keeps records of trips and behavior of passengers.
