Client: Large Consulting Company
Job Title:Senior Tax Associate
Length:5-month contract
Location: Mostly Remote, but must be within 30 miles of Stamford, CT, Irving, TX, or Fort Myers, FL
Schedule/Hours:part-time, 16 hrs/wk
Pay Range: $43/hr to $47/hr

Job Overview:

  • Assist Tax Director with executing the following:
Provision & Reporting:
  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of the consolidated tax provision.
  • Work with federal, state, and international teams to compile and analyze results.
  • Maintain executive summary deliverables, including the CFO presentation.
  • Coordinate quarterly with FP&A and the transfer pricing team to rationalize full-year pretax projections by region.
  • Compile documentation for Sarbanes-Oxley testing of the consolidated process.
  • Draft tax-related financial disclosures.
  • Monitor financial reporting developments, changes in financial accounting standards, and changes in business and/or tax laws.
  • Research tax technical accounting questions as necessary.
  • Identify discussion items and draft talking points for the disclosure committee.
Cash Tax & Rate Guidance:
  • Work with FP&A, transfer pricing, federal, state, and international teams to compile cash tax and rate guidance.
  • Prepare scenario analyses and develop guidance ranges on a quarterly basis.
  • Continually assess year-to-date performance against guidance and raise potential risks.
Budgeting & Audit:
  • Develop the annual tax department budget.
  • Track year-to-date spend versus budget and report progress to the GVP of Tax.
  • Ensure audit committee approval for all spending with external auditors.
Special Projects & Research:
  • Support selected research and special projects (e.g., maintain global equity compensation summary, research U.S. tax treatment on synthetic debt instruments, propose tax accounting policy for GILTI, etc.).
Qualifications (Required & Preferred):
  • Ideally 5 years of tax experience, including global provision and financial reporting.
  • Hands-on experience preparing U.S. Form 1120.
  • Capable of preparing tax returns with minimal guidance.
  • Proficient in using CorpTax software from day one.
  • Advanced Excel skills (super-user level).
  • Strong practical tax preparation skills and genuine interest in the field.
  • Background in public accounting or a mix of public and private accounting preferred.
