The Security Officer is responsible for providing safetyand security services to Sagebrush Church attendees, guests, staff, volunteers,students, and ministry participants by maintaining a safe, secure, andwelcoming environment across church campuses and ministry locations. TheSecurity Officer provides a visible security presence, identifies and evaluatessecurity concerns, responds to incidents and emergencies, assists withemergency response activities, and provides appropriate solutions to maintain asafe worship and ministry environment. The Security Officer works closely withthe Security Director, church leadership, Facilities, ministry teams, andemergency responders to support the safety and security mission of SagebrushChurch.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Maintains an active Christian faith with the ability tolive in accordance with our Staff Covenant.
- Must have a valid driver's license and maintain with the ability to drive and operate a company vehicle.
- High school diploma or GED, associate degree or professionalcertification in a related field preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; abilityto navigate complex interpersonal situations.
- Proven strong verbal and written communication skills, including theability to document incidents accuratelythrough written reports and required documentation.
- At least 3 years of experience in security, law enforcement, military,EMS, fire service, or a related field.
- Must maintain reliable access to a personal mobile phonefor operational communication when required.
- Comfortable learning and utilizing various computerprograms, including security software, platforms, and Google Workspace, as wellas communication systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and utilize discretionto exercise sound judgment.
- Servant Leader mindset, willing to help others with a professional and welcoming attitudetoward church members, guests, volunteers, staff, and ministry leaders.
- Must be flexible, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and ableto manage multiple priorities calmly and effectively in a dynamic ministryenvironment.
- Ability to identify, assess, and respond appropriately to securityconcerns, suspicious activity, safety hazards, and emergencies utilizingappropriate response measures consistent with training, church policies, andapplicable laws.
- Knowledge of conflict resolution and verbal de-escalationtechniques.
- Professional and welcoming attitude toward church members, guests,volunteers, staff, and ministry leaders.
- Ability to work collaboratively with Security personnel,Facilities, Kids Planet, Guest Services, ministry teams, law enforcement, firepersonnel, and emergency responders.
- Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment withinestablished guidelines.
- Ability to maintain current knowledge of security practices,emergency procedures, and applicable safety standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide professional security presencethroughout the church campus during services, events, and ministry activities.
- Promote the safety and security ofchurch attendees, staff, volunteers, students, facilities, and property bymaintaining a safe and secure environment.
- Conduct routine interior and exteriorsecurity checks to identify fire hazards, property damage, safety concerns,suspicious activity, and facility issues.
- Perform physical building checks,including verifying doors, windows, restricted areas, and building securitysystems.
- Maintain a presence at designatedentrances by welcoming guests, observing visitor activity, assistingindividuals needing support, and identifying security concerns.
- Respond to security calls, servicerequests, alarms, disturbances, and emergency situations throughout the campus.
- Assess situations and take appropriateaction that is consistent with training, church policy, and applicableauthority.
- Assist with emergency responseactivities, including medical emergencies, evacuations, hazard response, andcoordination with emergency personnel.
- Assist individuals requiring help dueto injury, illness, disability, or other circumstances.
- Monitor security cameras and availabletechnology systems to enhance situational awareness and support responseefforts.
- Observe, document, and reportsuspicious activity, incidents, accidents, policy violations, and safetyconcerns.
- Complete required incident reports andother security documentation.
- Serve as a liaison with police, fire,medical personnel, and other emergency responders during incidents.
- Participate in and, when assigned,assist with safety and security training programs for staff, volunteers, andministry teams, including emergency preparedness, situational awareness, andresponse procedures.
- Assist with securing church facilitiesat the conclusion of services, events, and activities by ensuring designatedareas are cleared, buildings are secure, and alarms are properly activated.
- Assist with ministry operations andsecurity readiness activities as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by theSecurity Director, Facilities Manager, or Executive Pastor of Operations.
