Job summary

Securitas US Business Unit in Portland, OR is seeking a part-time Security Officer for a Sunday–Monday, 11pm–7am schedule. The role emphasizes customer service, vigilant monitoring of access points, and rapid, professional incident response on site.

The ideal candidate can maintain alertness, handle diverse scenarios, and cooperate with a regional team. A high school diploma or GED is required, with pre-employment screening including a background check and drug test.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• High School Diploma or GED (or ability to complete GED within 6 months).
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Able to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrains.
• Willing to undergo pre-employment screening including drug test and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Resolve conflicts and de-escalate when needed.
• Monitor CCTV and control access at entrances/exits.
• Patrol interior and exterior areas; respond to emergencies.
• Interact with employees and guests; report safety issues.
• Provide detailed written incident reports for clients.
• Collaborate with team to meet site goals.

What You Can Expect

• Conflict resolution and de-escalation.
• Monitor CCTV cameras and perform access control at security entrances / exits.
• Conduct patrols inside / outside the client’s premises, potentially in various weather conditions and in different types of terrain.
• Frequent interactions with client employees and guests.
• Identify and report safety issues, hazardous conditions, or any suspicious activity.
• Provide detailed written reports.
• Work in a team environment to ensure site / organizational goals are achieved daily.
• Carry out specific tasks and duties of similar nature and scope as required for assigned site.

Basic Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• High School Diploma, GED, OR ability to complete the GED program within 6 months.
• Standard computer / technology skills needed.
• Customer service background preferred.
• Security, Law Enforcement, or Military experience a plus!!
• Must be able to interact with a wide range of individuals in a calm and professional manner.
• Must have great attention to detail and the ability to remain alert throughout the duration of the shift.
• Must be able to respond to emergencies with rapid / effective judgement and use appropriate escalation.
• All candidates must be willing to participate in the Company’s pre-employment screening process, including drug screen and background investigation.
